A good day to try to catch up on the past 5 months of not keeping this blog up to date, and a good day to commit to making entries on a more regular basis.
We found a new restaurant, owned by a Hungarian with an interesting menu.  We can take the free Becamex bus there, and then walk a few minutes, so it makes for a perfect Saturday night date for us.

Our Zone got to take a Trip on New Year Eve day to the Mekong Delta

Lunch in the Delta.  I was able to snag a vegetarian meal that did not include picking the flesh off a fired fish in the middle of the table.

Thanksgiving 2017

First post after 2 months of adjusting to life in this foreign place. I'll post current pictures and events, and every now and then, pick up a past event that comes to mind. We had a 2-day Thanksgiving celebration--beginning at Al Fresco with the elders. They do a pretty good version of American food, (no turkey though) do we made them order hamburgers, then came back to our apartment for pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce. They sang "Because I Have Been Given Much" as a gift to us. Wonderful evening. Yesterday, we both taught  a Thsnksgiving lesson to our students at VietAnh school. They were pretty interested , and really liked hearing about Black Friday. After school, we went into Saigon for a Thanksgiving Feast with the Expat group in An Phu. Met at the Estella Apt. which was luxurious and has s true feast Today we're recovering from food overload, and still feeling thankful for friends, family, holidays and being here!

Trying to remember all the February events.  This is certainly not the way to keep a blog updated, but I will try.  I finally gave up trying to get some exercise around the neighbourhood.  The police met me at the end of the path I've been running on and told me it was prohibited.  When I switched to the parking ramp at the mall, I was also prohibited.  I finally joined the Renaissance Gym at the mall, where I can excursive to my hearts content, legally, for a price. We made a second trip out to Cu Chi Tunnels, this time at a different entrance.  It didn't seem quite as authentic an experience, more touristy, but they also had a shooting range where you could buy as many rounds of ammo you wanted to shoot, so the background noise changed everything.  The feeling of being on a battleground was real, and unsettling for both Doug and me.
